Indore Police on Tuesday confirmed that Anand, the fourth accused in the murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi, has been granted a seven-day transit remand till June 16. He will be taken to Shillong for further investigation, along with the other three accused.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya said that Anand, a resident of Indore, was presented in court today after being brought in by Shillong Police. “He, along with Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, and Raj Singh Kushwaha, will now be taken to Shillong,” the officer said.

The three other accused had been granted transit remand a day earlier. All four are reportedly aged between 20 and 25 and have no previous criminal records. According to police, Raj Kushwaha worked as an accountant in the office of Sonam Raghuvanshi, the wife of the deceased and a prime suspect in the case. Vishal and Anand are college students, while Akash is unemployed.

DCP Dandotiya noted, “All four are friends of Raj Kushwaha. At the time Raja Raghuvanshi’s last rites were performed, Raj was seen in Indore. There are some social media videos supporting this.”

The case involves the alleged contract killing of Raja Raghuvanshi during a honeymoon trip to Meghalaya. His wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, is believed to have orchestrated the murder. She was detained near a dhaba in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur and later handed over to Meghalaya Police after medical examination.

On June 9, Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong confirmed the arrest of four people in the case and said the search for one more suspect was ongoing. He also noted that Sonam surrendered voluntarily and would be taken to Shillong for further questioning.

According to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief, the post-mortem revealed that Raja suffered two fatal head injuries. The couple, both residents of Indore, had gone missing during their trip before Raja’s body was discovered in Meghalaya.
