Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, during a special briefing on Operation Sindoor, strongly rebuked Pakistan’s ongoing misinformation campaign, calling it a barrage of “lies, misinformation, and propaganda” aimed at misleading the public and distorting the reality of the current conflict.
Addressing the media alongside senior defence officials, Misri categorically dismissed Pakistani claims that Indian infrastructure, power systems, and cyber assets had been significantly damaged. “These claims are completely false. Pakistan’s narrative is nothing more than a tissue of lies,” he asserted.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi detailed India’s countermeasures against Pakistani provocations, while Wing Commander Vyomika Singh presented evidence debunking allegations of destruction at Indian military bases in Sirsa and Suratgarh, demonstrating normalcy and full operational capacity.
Misri emphasized that Pakistan continues to deliberately target civilian populations and infrastructure, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. He cited recent shelling by Pakistan in Rajouri, which resulted in the death of ADDM Raj Kumar Thapa, and damage to civilian property in Firozpur and Jalandhar.
He also condemned Pakistan’s repeated attempts to sow communal discord within India, stating, “These lame attempts to divide India are doomed to failure.”
Calling out yet another baseless allegation, Misri dismissed as “completely ludicrous” Pakistan’s claim that Indian missiles had struck Afghanistan. “It is a totally frivolous allegation. The Afghan people know very well which country has targeted civilian populations and infrastructure in the past,” he said.
Concluding the briefing, Misri described the situation as “evolving” and underscored India’s continued commitment to defending its sovereignty while countering falsehoods.
The press briefing comes amid escalating tensions between the two nations following Pakistan’s cross-border shelling on Saturday, which damaged several homes in Jammu’s Rajouri district. In swift retaliation, India targeted 26 Pakistani locations and struck four airbases in Pakistan in the early hours of Saturday. Intermittent firing continues along the Line of Control (LoC).
