As the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj continues to unfold in its grandeur, foreign devotees are expressing immense joy at being part of this monumental spiritual event. Describing their experiences as “amazing” and “fantastic,” visitors from around the world have emphasized the deep-rooted devotion and rich traditions that characterize the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Esther, who traveled from Mexico, shared her enthusiasm with ANI, saying, “I feel joyous and connected to the energy and great vibes of the people here. The devotion and tradition in this land are incredibly strong. The culture is ancient, yet it continues to thrive, which is magnificent. Everything we’ve experienced—the forts, the festival, the Ganga—it’s all deeply inspiring.”

Esther, who learned chants of Lord Shiva during her visit, expressed how the trip was centered around attending the Maha Kumbh Mela. “We planned our trip specifically to be here for this occasion. It’s something we’ll cherish forever,” she said. She added that she enjoyed learning the chant “Om Namah Shivaya,” which is recited by devotees throughout the night, creating a unique sense of connection.

Esther also noted the warmth of the people she encountered, saying, “We feel very happy. People approach us for pictures, and we engage with them. It’s a wonderful experience.”

Mayi, a devotee from France, described the experience as “fantastic” and “precious.” She shared her excitement about visiting the river to take holy water, calling the tradition “amazing” and unlike anything she had encountered before. “I believe this is the only tradition like this in the world. It’s been a fantastic experience for us. We planned our trip specifically to be in Prayagraj for this day and a half to see and experience this beautiful tradition,” Mayi said.

Mayi also reflected on the deep emotional impact of the experience. “Meeting people, walking around, taking pictures—it’s been a very precious experience. It stirs deep feelings in the heart. The spirituality, the love for life, and the willingness to share—it’s been excellent,” she added.

On the weather in Prayagraj, Mayi mentioned, “It’s warm inside, and although there’s haze, the sun comes out and warms us. We may not return for this experience since it happens only once every 144 years, but I hope this tradition continues. It’s not just important for India, but for the world. It’s a world heritage.”

Both Esther and Mayi joined over 3 million devotees who participated in the holy dip at Triveni Sangam on the fourth day of the Maha Kumbh Mela. According to the latest figures, by 6 pm on Thursday, more than 3 million pilgrims visited the Sangam, with over 1 million Kalpvasis and 2 million additional visitors. The event continues to draw millions of devotees from around the world, with a total of over 70 million participants so far, including 35 million on Makar Sankranti on January 14.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, is a significant occasion that celebrates India’s spiritual heritage, drawing millions of people to Prayagraj. For many, including international visitors like Esther and Mayi, it is an unforgettable and life-changing experience steeped in devotion, culture, and tradition.
