Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following India’s precision strikes on terror camps across the border, several Indian airlines, including Air India, Air India Express, and SpiceJet, have cancelled or diverted flights to and from key northern cities.

Air India, in a post on social media platform X, announced the suspension of all flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until 12 noon on May 7, pending further updates. Two international flights bound for Amritsar were diverted to Delhi. The airline apologized for the inconvenience caused by what it termed an “unforeseen disruption.”

Air India Express also issued a statement acknowledging the disruption across its network due to prevailing restrictions. It advised passengers to check for updates and ensure their contact details are current to receive flight alerts.

SpiceJet followed with a travel advisory, confirming the closure of airports in northern India, including Dharamshala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar, until further notice. The airline cautioned travelers that departures, arrivals, and connecting flights may also face delays or cancellations, urging passengers to check their flight status and plan accordingly.

The airspace disruptions come in the wake of India’s Operation Sindoor, which involved coordinated strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). With rising security concerns in the region, aviation authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
