Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), hailing the scheme as a transformative force that has empowered millions of Indians and turned countless dreams into reality.

Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister congratulated beneficiaries whose lives have been uplifted through the scheme. “Over this decade, Mudra Yojana has turned several dreams into reality, empowering people who were previously overlooked with the financial support to shine. It illustrates that for the people of India, nothing is impossible!” PM Modi wrote.

He emphasized the deep impact of the initiative, noting that every Mudra loan carries with it “dignity, self-respect, and opportunity.” He also highlighted the inclusive nature of the scheme, stating that over 70% of beneficiaries are women, and nearly half belong to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

“This scheme has not only promoted financial inclusion but has also ensured social inclusion and economic freedom,” the Prime Minister added.

PM Modi reaffirmed his government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship in the years ahead, stating, “Our Government will continue focusing on ensuring a robust ecosystem where every aspiring entrepreneur has access to credit, thus giving him or her the confidence and a chance to grow.”

As part of the 10-year celebrations, the Prime Minister also interacted with beneficiaries from across the country, hearing firsthand stories of how the Mudra Yojana has changed lives.

From Kamlesh, a home-based tailor in Delhi who expanded her work and hired three other women, to Bindu, who scaled her broom-making enterprise from 50 to 500 units a day, these stories represent a nationwide movement of grassroots entrepreneurship.

Launched in April 2015, the Mudra Yojana aims to provide collateral-free loans to micro and small enterprises, bridging the credit gap for India’s underserved entrepreneurs. According to the Ministry of Finance, the scheme has sanctioned over 52 crore loans, underscoring its pivotal role in driving economic self-reliance and job creation across the nation.
