Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on Saturday expressed enthusiasm about visiting India later this year, following a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. Musk described the call as an “honour” and highlighted the shared vision of deepening collaboration in technology and innovation.

“It was an honour to speak with PM Modi. I am looking forward to visiting India later this year!” Musk posted on X, signaling continued engagement between the billionaire entrepreneur and Indian leadership.

Prime Minister Modi also shared details of the discussion, stating, “Spoke to Elon Musk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation.”

The call builds upon their February 2025 in-person meeting in Washington DC, where both leaders discussed cooperation in space exploration, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and other emerging technologies. Modi and Musk also touched on strengthening ties between Indian and US entities across these strategic sectors.

During their previous meeting, PM Modi praised Musk’s interest in entrepreneurship, innovation, and governance reform, while Musk was accompanied by three of his children, whom Modi also welcomed warmly.

Musk’s anticipated visit to India later this year is expected to accelerate India–US high-tech partnerships, with possible investments, joint ventures, and technology collaborations on the horizon, particularly in clean energy, EVs, space, and AI.
