In a landmark move to modernize and streamline electoral services, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to launch ECINET, a unified digital platform that will consolidate 40 existing web and mobile applications into one seamless interface.

Announced on Sunday, the initiative is aimed at simplifying user experience for nearly 100 crore electors, election officials, political parties, and civil society stakeholders. Envisioned by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar during the March Conference of Chief Electoral Officers, ECINET seeks to enhance usability through improved user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design.

“ECINET will subsume popular apps such as the Voter Helpline, Voter Turnout, cVIGIL, Suvidha 2.0, ESMS, Saksham, and the KYC App, which together have already crossed 5.5 crore downloads,” the ECI said in an official statement.

By integrating these services into one portal, ECINET aims to eliminate the need for multiple downloads and logins, thereby reducing digital clutter and confusion among users. The platform will serve a vast network of electoral stakeholders, including over 10.5 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs), around 15 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs), 45 lakh polling officials, 15,597 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), 4,123 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and 767 District Election Officers (DEOs) across India.

The ECI emphasized that ECINET is in its final development phase, with extensive trials underway to ensure its smooth operation, user-friendliness, and cybersecurity robustness.

Developed following comprehensive consultations with 36 Chief Electoral Officers, 767 DEOs, and 4,123 EROs, the platform’s framework is based on a detailed review of 76 official publications comprising over 9,000 pages. The application will operate within the legal framework outlined by the Representation of People Acts of 1950 and 1951, the Registration of Electoral Rules (1960), and the Conduct of Election Rules (1961), alongside ECI-issued guidelines.

With ECINET, the Election Commission is poised to revolutionize how electoral services are accessed and managed, marking a major step forward in India’s digital governance and electoral transparency.
