Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday strongly criticized Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai over his comments on delimitation, dismissing him as “unimportant” and “lacking knowledge” on the subject.

Speaking to the media, Shivakumar said, “Annamalai is not important here. What matters is what the Prime Minister and the Home Minister are saying. He does not know anything. He is just trying to show loyalty to his party rather than his state.”

Shivakumar’s statement came after Annamalai accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin of focusing on delimitation concerns while ignoring critical state issues. “The Tamil Nadu CM has never gone to Kerala to solve pressing issues but has invited the Kerala CM to discuss an ‘artificial issue’ like delimitation,” Annamalai claimed.

On Saturday, Stalin chaired the first Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting in Chennai over the proposed delimitation issue. The meeting was attended by Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, and other prominent leaders.

Following the meeting, the JAC unanimously adopted a resolution, stressing that any delimitation exercise by the Centre should be conducted transparently and with consultation from all stakeholders.

DMK MP Kanimozhi voiced concerns about the lack of transparency and consultation in the delimitation process.

The MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government has been at odds with the Central government not only over delimitation but also over the three-language formula proposed in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
