A large number of devotees gathered at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Tuesday, eager to take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

Namita Das, a devotee from Assam, expressed her satisfaction with the arrangements made for the event. Speaking to ANI, she said, “We are from Assam, and we came here for the Triveni Sangam bath. So far, everything has been great. The administration has made excellent arrangements, and we are very happy with our experience.”

To facilitate the influx of pilgrims, the Southern Railways has operated 28 trains from major cities across its network. M Senthamil Selvan, the CPRO of Southern Railways, mentioned, “We have operated 28 trains from the South Central Railway for the Kumbh Mela.” He added that three District Railway Managers (DRMs) have been stationed in Prayagraj to oversee the operation, with a total of 18,000 railway personnel deployed to manage the facilities.

On the security front, Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar praised the state police for their dedication in handling the massive crowds at the event. “Managing this ocean of humanity is a Herculean task, and the UP Police are working tirelessly to ensure smooth traffic, assist pilgrims, and maintain law and order with unmatched dedication,” he said. DGP Kumar noted that over 40 crore pilgrims have already bathed at the Sangam, with millions more expected to arrive in the coming days.

Kumar also acknowledged the strain on the infrastructure of Prayagraj, which has been stretched beyond its limits due to the scale of the gathering, leading to some delays in traffic. He clarified that these delays were not due to mismanagement but due to the sheer number of devotees.

The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela is of immense religious significance for Hindus, drawing millions of pilgrims from across the country. Authorities are taking extensive measures to ensure the safety and smooth management of the event, especially following the tragic stampede during Mauni Amavasya on January 29. Investigations are ongoing into the incident.

The grand religious event continues to attract a massive number of devotees, with the government and local authorities working together to ensure that the Maha Kumbh remains a safe and spiritually enriching experience for all participants.
