As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) inches closer to forming a government in Delhi after 27 years, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday hailed the party’s performance and expressed confidence in the new era of development and trust that is set to begin in the national capital.

In a post on X, Shah said, “Delhi ke Dil mein Modi (Modi in the heart of Delhi)” and emphasized that the “rule of lies” has come to an end. He stated, “The people of Delhi have worked to make Delhi free from disasters, destroying the ‘Sheeshmahal’ of lies, deceit, and corruption. Delhi has set an example for those who break promises. It will serve as a lesson for those who make false promises to the public across the country. This marks the beginning of a new era of development and trust in Delhi.”

Shah also expressed his gratitude to the people of Delhi for their support, noting that the victory was a testament to the faith Delhiites have in Prime Minister Modi’s vision. “This is a victory of ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ and the faith of Delhiites in Modi ji’s development vision. Heartfelt gratitude to the people of Delhi for this massive mandate. Under Modi ji’s leadership, BJP is determined to fulfill all its promises and make Delhi the number-1 capital of the world,” he added.

The Home Minister further acknowledged the public’s rejection of false promises, citing concerns over the state of the city, including pollution in the Yamuna, inadequate infrastructure, and widespread issues with basic services. He said, “The public has responded to the dirty Yamuna, contaminated drinking water, broken roads, overflowing sewers, and liquor shops on every street with their votes.”

He also extended his congratulations to the BJP workers and leaders, saying, “I heartily congratulate all the BJP workers who worked tirelessly for this grand victory in Delhi, BJP National President JP Nadda, and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva. Whether it’s respect for women, the self-respect of unauthorized colony residents, or immense opportunities for self-employment, Delhi will now become an ideal capital under the leadership of Modi ji.”

As per the latest results, BJP is currently leading in 48 seats, while AAP holds 22 seats. Congress has failed to secure any seats in the Delhi elections for the third consecutive term.

According to the Election Commission, the BJP has won five seats, including Rekha Gupta from Shalimar Bagh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden, Chandan Kumar Choudhary from Sangam Vihar, Tilak Ram Gupta from Tri Nagar, and Umang Bajaj from Rajinder Nagar. AAP has secured six seats, with victories for Virender Singh Kadian from Delhi Cantt, Kuldeep Kumar from Kondli, Mukesh Kumar Ahlawat from Sultanpur Majra, Imran Hussain from Ballimaran, Jarnail Singh from Tilak Nagar, and Sahi Ram from Tughlakabad.
