The Congress Party has scheduled a meeting of its General Secretaries and State Incharges of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Tuesday, March 18, at Indira Bhawan in Delhi, according to party sources. The meeting, set to begin at 5 PM, will be chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and attended by Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
Additionally, the AICC has planned another significant meeting in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, next month. Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal recently reviewed preparations for the Ahmedabad AICC session, scheduled for April 8-9. During his visit, he also paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Ahmedabad.
“As part of the visit to review preparations for our AICC Meeting scheduled April 8-9, visited the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Ahmedabad and paid homage to Sardar Patel, our great freedom fighter and stalwart Congressman who has forever been our guiding light,” Venugopal wrote on X.
According to a press release from the Congress, the Ahmedabad session will bring together AICC delegates from across the country to discuss key issues, including what the party calls “anti-people policies” and the “relentless attack” on the Constitution by the BJP. The session will also outline the party’s future course of action.
The Ahmedabad session will begin on April 8 with an extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, followed by an AICC Delegates’ meeting on April 9. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will preside over both meetings, with Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Congress Chief Ministers, senior leaders, and other AICC delegates in attendance.
This session follows the resolutions passed at the Belagavi Extended CWC meeting (Nava Satyagraha Baithak), held to mark the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s presidency at the 1924 INC session. As part of its commitment to safeguarding constitutional values, the Congress announced the Samvidhan Bachao Rashtriya Padayatra, a nationwide outreach campaign set to take place between January 26, 2025, and January 26, 2026.
Venugopal emphasized that the campaign, along with the upcoming AICC session in Gujarat, aims to reaffirm the party’s commitment to Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, and justice.
