Senior Congress leader Manickam Tagore and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) MP D. Ravikumar have raised strong objections to reported efforts within the Tamil Nadu Congress to explore a potential alliance with PMK founder Dr. S Ramadoss, who was recently expelled from his party by his son, Anbumani Ramadoss.

Amid political speculation that Ramadoss may be seeking re-entry into electoral politics via the DMK-led alliance, Manickam Tagore took to X to express his disapproval. “How can you want a party that stood with Modi from 2014 and still shares his ideology to be your ally? Why hurt those who stood with you through thick and thin, and continue to stand by People’s Leader @RahulGandhi in every battle? This can’t be a party decision—it seems purely personal,” he posted.

Meanwhile, VCK MP D. Ravikumar addressed an open letter to Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, also posted on X, expressing similar concerns. He reiterated VCK’s unwavering support to the Congress and the INDIA bloc and questioned the rationale behind reaching out to a former NDA ally.

“In this context, we are concerned about the unusual interest shown by the Tamil Nadu State Congress in attempting to woo an NDA ally into the INDIA bloc. Specifically, the move to bring PMK into the alliance in Tamil Nadu creates the impression that the DMK-led alliance is not strong enough to counter the BJP alliance. May I know if this has your approval?” Ravikumar wrote.

Though there has been no official confirmation of such an alliance move by the Congress leadership, the growing speculation has triggered unease within existing INDIA bloc partners, particularly as Tamil Nadu gears up for Assembly elections in 2026.
