Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday criticised previous state governments, alleging that most recruitment processes during their tenure were marred by corruption and often referred to the CBI for investigation. He accused them of exploiting the youth by demanding money for jobs, sometimes from multiple members of the same family.
“Earlier, most recruitment processes were referred to the CBI for investigation. These are the same people who looted the public by taking money from families for multiple recruitments. A 2016 recruitment case is still under investigation, and once it concludes, many culprits may spend their lives in jail,” Yogi said while addressing an event in Lucknow.
Highlighting his government’s record, the CM noted that in the last eight years, 2.19 lakh police personnel have been recruited transparently, including more than 60,000 recently. He further stated that over 8.5 lakh youths have secured government jobs since 2017, with recruitments carried out fairly through commissions and boards.
“Today, there is a shower of jobs in UP, both in the government and private sectors. The youth selected through fair recruitment are now serving the state with honesty and energy,” he added.
Contrasting the present with the pre-2017 era, Yogi said Uttar Pradesh was once seen as a “Bimaru” (sick) state and its youth suffered an identity crisis outside the state. “Now, UP has become India’s second-largest economy and the country’s growth engine,” he asserted.
Earlier in the day, the CM also held a ‘Janta Darshan’ programme in Lucknow to address public grievances.
