Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday emphasized the vital role of responsible journalism in a democracy, stressing the importance of presenting accurate facts to the public.

Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the Gorakhpur Press Club, CM Yogi stated that no constitutional institution—be it the legislature, executive, or judiciary—can remain detached from public concerns. He asserted that in a democracy, the people’s voice is paramount, and governments must remain accountable to those who elect them.

“To present the correct facts to the public is crucial because no government can ignore or separate itself from public concerns. If it does, it will have to answer to the people,” CM Yogi said while addressing journalists.

He praised the media for fostering transparency and accountability in governance and urged journalists to serve as a bridge between the government and the public by highlighting key issues. He also reiterated his government’s commitment to press freedom while promoting an environment for ethical and responsible journalism.

The event was attended by senior journalists, media professionals, and government officials. The Gorakhpur Journalist Press Club plays a crucial role in advocating journalistic integrity and addressing press-related concerns in the region.

Earlier in the day, CM Yogi held a Janata Darshan at the Gorakhnath Temple, where he listened to public grievances and instructed officials to resolve them efficiently. The Janata Darshan program, initiated by him in 2017, aims to provide a direct platform for citizens to voice their concerns and receive prompt government assistance.
