Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday called upon all like-minded political forces to unite against what he termed as “vote theft” and attempts by the BJP-led Union government to undermine India’s democratic spirit.

Speaking at a memorial meeting for CPI national leader and former MP Suravaram Prathap Reddy, the Chief Minister accused the Centre of misusing the Election Commission to consolidate power. He alleged that voters opposing the BJP were being deliberately removed from electoral rolls, posing a grave threat to the country’s parliamentary democracy.

“The ruling party at the Centre has created one crore new votes within four months while simultaneously deleting genuine votes to tilt the Bihar elections in its favour,” Reddy claimed. He urged all parties to study this “dangerous trend” and join hands with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who, he said, is already leading the fight against electoral malpractice.

Warning of a larger conspiracy, the Chief Minister alleged that the Union government was working towards altering the very foundation of the Indian Constitution. “This is a direct threat to the future of the nation,” he cautioned.

Revanth Reddy also called on communist parties to intensify their struggles for the people, stressing that communism should not remain confined to ideology but be practised through strong grassroots movements. He praised the lifelong contributions of late CPI leader Sudhakar Reddy, describing him as a true representative of communist values, and recalled the role of Suravaram Prathap Reddy in opposing the Nizam’s rule through journalism.

Highlighting the legacy of leaders from Mahabubnagar district—including Burgula Ramakrishna Rao, Jaipal Reddy, and Sudhakar Reddy—the Chief Minister said the nation was in need of leaders with similar conviction today. He further announced that the Cabinet would soon decide on ways to honour Sudhakar Reddy’s services.

“Those who fought for the people will always be remembered, and their contributions will live on in Telangana’s history,” Revanth Reddy said.
