Clashes Erupt During Holi Procession in Jharkhand; Vehicles Set on Fire

Tensions flared during Holi celebrations in Giridih, Jharkhand, on Friday, as clashes broke out between two communities, resulting in several vehicles being torched. Authorities have confirmed that the situation is now under control and are conducting an investigation to identify those responsible for the violence.

The altercation occurred when a Holi procession passed through a street near Ghodthambha Chowk, escalating into chaos that lasted for about an hour. Upon receiving reports of the disturbance, district officials quickly arrived on the scene and helped disperse the crowd.

Dr. Bimal, the Superintendent of Police, stated that there were no major injuries reported, and efforts are underway to apprehend those involved. He assured that strict action would be taken against the culprits.

Deputy Development Commissioner Smita Kumari described the incident as an attempt by “anti-social elements” to disturb public order. She confirmed that vehicles were set on fire and that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the conflict.
