Araria, Bihar: Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajiv Ranjan, posted at Fulkaha police station, lost his life following a violent clash between a police team and local villagers in Laxmipur village. The incident occurred when the police attempted to arrest Anmol Yadav, a criminal wanted under the Arms Act and NDPS Act, during a wedding ceremony.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mukesh Kumar Saha, the police team had received information that Anmol Yadav was attending the event. Acting on this tip-off, ASI Rajiv Ranjan and his team conducted a raid and successfully arrested Yadav. However, the situation quickly escalated as local villagers confronted the police and managed to free the accused from custody.
During the altercation, ASI Rajiv Ranjan collapsed after sustaining severe injuries. Despite being rushed to Forbesganj hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
“So far, we have detained three to four individuals connected to the incident, and the investigation is ongoing,” DSP Saha told ANI. He added that the deceased officer hailed from Munger district and his body has been sent to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
The tragic loss of ASI Rajiv Ranjan has cast a wave of mourning across the police department. Authorities are continuing efforts to apprehend those responsible and bring the situation under control.
