Union Minister Chirag Paswan criticized the Congress party over its recent ‘Gayab’ (missing) social media post targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it insensitive and inappropriate in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives.

Paswan emphasized the need for political maturity, especially during national crises.

“This is wrong. This is a very sensitive issue, and the responsibility lies with the opposition to understand that. At such a time, seriousness is needed—something that J&K CM Omar Abdullah has shown in the Assembly. If parties like the Congress politicize this, it’s extremely unfortunate,” he told reporters.

The Congress’s post, shared on its official X account, featured an image portraying PM Modi as “missing” and criticized his absence during the all-party meeting held in response to the Pahalgam attack.

Reacting to the post, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary defended the Prime Minister’s leadership and questioned the opposition’s visibility.

“The people of India know how responsibly PM Modi is running the country. But can anyone tell where the opposition leader is?” he said in Patna.

Meanwhile, JD(U) leader KC Tyagi also condemned Congress’s move, stressing unity in times of national tragedy.

“This is not the moment to attack PM Modi. It’s a time to target the evil intentions of Pakistan, which killed innocent civilians. I condemn the Congress post,” he stated.

Adding to the chorus, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed that the Congress was acting in alignment with external interests.

“The Congress post was quote-tweeted by a former Pakistani minister. There appears to be a ‘jugalbandi’ between the Congress and Pakistan’s deep state,” Bhandari told ANI.

He assured that under PM Modi’s leadership, India would give a strong response to terror threats.

“India will deliver a befitting reply to the masters of terror in Pakistan,” he added.
