Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, along with the Council of Ministers, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Governor, Members of Parliament (MPs), and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), will visit Prayagraj on Thursday to take part in the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela 2025 and take a holy dip in the sacred river.

In a conversation with reporters, CM Sai expressed his gratitude towards Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the Speaker of the UP Legislative Assembly for inviting him to the Mahakumbh.

“Our entire Council of Ministers, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Governor, MPs, and MLAs are all traveling to Prayagraj to take a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh. I am thankful to CM Yogi Adityanath and the Speaker of the UP Assembly for this kind invitation,” said CM Sai.

Kaushalya Sai, the wife of CM Sai, also shared her sentiments, expressing that she would pray for the well-being and prosperity of Chhattisgarh during the visit. “We are going to the Maha Kumbh to seek blessings from Maa Ganga and gain strength to serve our state. I will pray for the people and prosperity of Chhattisgarh,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the ‘snan’ (ritual bath) for Magh Purnima was successfully concluded on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the event. Urban Development Secretary Anuj Jha praised the efforts behind the successful completion of the bath, highlighting that millions of devotees had visited the site over the past month.

“The Magh Purnima snan has been successfully completed. It is a major milestone for us. Lakhs of Kalpavasis and crores of pilgrims visited the site last month. The Urban Development Department, as the nodal agency, made all the necessary arrangements efficiently,” Jha told ANI.

As of February 11, 2025, officials reported that the total number of devotees who participated in the ‘snan’ since the festival’s beginning had surpassed 462.5 million. The footfall is expected to rise even further as more auspicious bathing dates approach.

On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh’s Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar discussed the arrangements for the fifth snan, Magh Purnima, and shared that lessons were learned from the earlier Mauni Amavasya mishap. He also emphasized the implementation of the “Build Back Better” management technique, which was introduced after gathering feedback from the community to enhance the experience for devotees.

“This is the fifth snan of Mahakumbh 2025, and the Maha Shivratri snan will follow next. After the mishap during Mauni Amavasya, we have incorporated new techniques and improved arrangements based on feedback from the community,” the DGP explained.

Mahakumbh 2025, which began on Paush Purnima (January 13), remains the largest spiritual and cultural gathering in the world, attracting millions of devotees from around the globe. The event will continue until Mahashivratri on February 26.
