A significant encounter between security forces and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district resulted in the deaths of 31 Naxals, officials confirmed on Sunday. The clash took place in the forests of the National Park area early in the morning.

Bastar police officials stated that the operation also led to the recovery of weapons and explosives from the site. “31 Naxals were killed in the encounter in the National Park area,” Bastar Inspector General (IG) P Sundarraj reported.

Tragically, two security personnel, including one from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and one from the Special Task Force (STF), lost their lives during the gunfight. Two additional jawans sustained injuries but their condition is stable.

The identification of the deceased Naxals is currently underway, and a search operation continues in the region. Further updates are expected.
