Three Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces on Sunday in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, according to the Bijapur Police. Several automatic weapons, explosives, and other equipment were recovered from the operation site in the dense forests under the National Park area.

A search operation is currently underway to secure the area and identify the deceased Naxalites. The operation was launched after security personnel received intelligence about Maoist activity in the forested region. Acting on the tip-off, a team of security forces embarked on an anti-Maoist mission.

The Bijapur Police stated that more details about the operation will be disclosed upon its completion.

The encounter comes amid a series of recent clashes between security forces and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh:

  • Saturday Incident: A CRPF jawan was injured in an IED blast laid by Naxalites in Bijapur. The incident occurred during an area domination operation conducted by the CRPF’s 196 Battalion in the Mahadev Ghat area. The injured jawan is receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Bijapur.
  • Thursday Encounter: Security forces recovered the bodies of three Naxals and seized weapons following a gunfight at the Sukma-Bijapur border. Sukma SP Kiran Chavan confirmed that the search operation was ongoing in the area.
  • Monday Attack: Eight District Reserve Guards (DRG) personnel and one civilian driver lost their lives in an IED blast triggered by Naxalites in Bijapur.

The security forces remain vigilant and committed to combating Maoist activities in the region, with intensified operations to ensure the safety and security of local communities.
