In a major rescue operation following an avalanche near Mana village in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, 33 Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers have been successfully rescued, officials confirmed on Saturday.

State Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman stated, “33 workers have been rescued. Two of the 57 workers had gone on leave, so only 55 workers were present at the site.” Rescue efforts are still underway to save the remaining 22 trapped workers.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is closely monitoring the ongoing rescue operations from his residence and remains in continuous contact with officials on the ground.

To assist those seeking information or help related to the avalanche, the Uttarakhand government has issued helpline numbers through the state emergency operation centre of the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority. The helpline numbers are: Mobile: 8218867005, 9058441404; Telephone: 0135 2664315; Toll-Free: 1070.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with CM Dhami and assured the public that the government’s top priority is the safe evacuation of all those still trapped. “Spoke to Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Dhami ji, DG ITBP, and DG NDRF regarding the glacier burst in Chamoli, Uttarakhand.
