In a significant move supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for ‘One Nation, One Election’, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has announced the launch of a nationwide awareness campaign to rally support for the ambitious electoral reform.

The campaign, set to kick off on April 10 in Delhi, will feature a series of seminars, workshops, and interactive sessions across the country involving trade bodies, civil society groups, and policy experts. The initiative aims to promote national dialogue on the importance of synchronized elections and their economic and administrative benefits.

Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT and Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, hailed the initiative as a visionary reform by the Prime Minister. He stated that simultaneous elections would usher in political stability, economic resilience, and smoother governance, creating a more favorable environment for trade and development.

The campaign will roll out in three phases:

  1. Phase 1: Events in all state capitals
  2. Phase 2: Outreach in major commercial hubs
  3. Phase 3: District-level awareness drives

A 15-member National Campaign Committee, led by CAIT National President B.C. Bhartia, will oversee the campaign’s execution. Bhartia emphasized that frequent elections disrupt economic momentum, stall policy implementation, and burden businesses with uncertainty.

“Simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections will provide the necessary continuity and focus for trade and industry to flourish,” Bhartia said.

CAIT Chairman Brajmohan Agarwal added that the organization will ensure wide-scale dissemination of information regarding the proposed reform, reaching out to traders and the general public through conferences, expert-led discussions, and educational events.

CAIT is also collaborating with experts in electoral law, economics, and public policy to deepen understanding and generate informed debate on the issue.

According to Khandelwal, “One Nation, One Election will reduce the financial and administrative burden of recurring polls, speed up development projects, and bring stability to the business ecosystem.” He affirmed that traders across India, under CAIT’s banner, are united in their support for this “historic initiative.”

The campaign also aims to gather feedback and suggestions from the trader community nationwide, creating a grassroots-level consensus on electoral reforms.

Positioning this initiative as a nation-building exercise, CAIT hopes to bridge the gap between citizens, policymakers, and the business community, ultimately strengthening India’s democratic and economic foundations.

The proposed reform, if implemented, is expected to position India as a more stable and efficient democracy, capable of sustained growth and global leadership.
