Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Parvesh Verma, who made history by defeating Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi assembly seat in the recent elections, visited his native village Mundka on Sunday morning to a grand reception.

Verma was warmly welcomed by villagers and, as part of his visit, he offered prayers at the Dada Bhairav Temple in Mundka. Reflecting on his victory, Verma highlighted that the BJP had secured all seats in outer Delhi, bringing back memories of the party’s first power win in Delhi in 1993.

As the BJP is poised to form the new government in the capital, Verma assured that his administration would focus on the entire city, including the “Delhi Dehaat” region, fulfilling both the aspirations of his father, former CM Sahib Singh Verma, and the vision of Prime Minister Modi.

“Thanks to BJP and PM Modi, I got the opportunity to contest from the New Delhi seat. I congratulate all the newly elected MLAs. The BJP has now won all the seats in outer Delhi, rekindling memories of 1993,” Verma said. “Our government will serve all regions of Delhi, and the dreams of Dr. Sahib Singh Verma will be fulfilled. We will make Delhi a more beautiful city, our national capital.”

In a stunning performance, Verma emerged victorious by a decisive margin of over 4,000 votes, defeating former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat. Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit finished third with over 4,500 votes.

The BJP secured a landslide victory in the Delhi assembly elections, winning 48 seats and returning to power in the national capital after 27 years. This result left the ruling AAP with significantly fewer seats, with several of its top leaders, including Kejriwal, losing in their strongholds. AAP’s Chief Minister Atishi managed to hold onto her seat.

Despite hopes of a revival, Congress again failed to win any seats, marking its third consecutive “zero” tally in Delhi. The party had previously ruled the city for 15 years, from 1998 until 2013.

The election results were finalized on Saturday, following voting on February 5. This outcome is seen as part of the BJP’s continued success, which also saw victories in the Maharashtra and Haryana polls in recent months, solidifying its dominance in national politics.
