Mohan Singh Bisht, the BJP’s victorious candidate from Mustafabad, has confirmed his plans to advocate for renaming the constituency. Bisht, who has been involved in developmental work in the area since 1998, stated that he would push to change the name of Mustafabad to either Shivpuri or Shiv Vihar.
Speaking to ANI, Bisht clarified his stance, saying, “We will change the name from Mustafabad to Shivpuri or Shiv Vihar. I will change the name because I have been working on development projects in the area from 1998 to 2008. The development work is not linked to the name change.”
Earlier in the day, Bisht reaffirmed his commitment to the region’s growth after his electoral victory. “I’ve dedicated 25 years to the development of my constituency. I had promised that if I won, I would change the name of Mustafabad to Shivpuri or Shiv Vihar. I’ll do it,” he said.
In addition to the name change, Bisht pledged to focus on infrastructure improvements within Mustafabad. “Once I take the oath, I will call for the limiting of drains along the peripheral line,” he added.
Bisht ran as the BJP candidate in Mustafabad, a seat with a significant Muslim population, and emerged victorious by defeating Adeel Ahmad Khan of the AAP. The BJP made a historic gain in the Delhi assembly elections, securing 48 out of 70 seats and ending the AAP’s reign. The party has yet to announce a Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi.
The BJP’s triumph was marked by defeating key AAP figures, including Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi, Manish Sisodia from Jangpura, Saurabh Bhardwaj from Greater Kailash, and Satyendar Jain from Shakur Basti.
