The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday strongly condemned Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav after a viral video from the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar allegedly showed offensive remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother.
Calling the incident “extremely shameful,” the BJP accused the INDIA bloc leaders of crossing all limits of “insult, hatred, and vulgarity.”
In a post on X, the BJP stated: “From the platform of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav’s yatra, extremely indecent language was used against the late mother of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Such depravity has never been seen before in politics. This journey has crossed all limits of insult, hatred, and vulgarity.”
The BJP further alleged that Gandhi and Yadav had allowed people to hurl abuses at Modi’s mother, terming it “politics at its lowest.” The party also criticised them for earlier sharing the stage with leaders such as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who, it claimed, had insulted the people of Bihar.
“Even if Rahul and Tejashwi beg for forgiveness a thousand times, the people of Bihar will not forgive them,” the BJP said.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, is a 16-day march covering more than 1,300 km across 20 districts of Bihar. It aims to highlight alleged irregularities in the voter list, which the Opposition has described as “vote chori” (vote theft). The march is set to conclude in Patna on September 1, ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
