BJP leader Payal Shankar accused the Congress party of betraying public trust by failing to fulfill its election promises, despite making budget allocations. Speaking to ANI, Shankar claimed that the ruling party had broken commitments made before coming to power.
“The Congress party has once again betrayed the public. The promises they made during the election campaign have been completely abandoned. While budget allocations exist, no actual implementation is taking place,” she said.
Meanwhile, BRS MLC Mohammed Mahmood Ali slammed the Telangana Budget, dismissing it as mere “Golmaal” (nonsense). Expressing disappointment, Ali pointed out that last year’s budget provisions were not properly utilized, and many of the promises made remained empty rhetoric.
“A Rs 1,000 crore employment budget was presented, but not a single rupee was spent. Similarly, Rs 3,005 crore was earmarked for the Urdu Academy and Haj Committee, yet no bill was passed for necessary arrangements,” Ali remarked.
Ali also accused the Congress government, which has ruled for 48 years, of neglecting the education and employment needs of Muslims.
BRS leader K Kavitha also protested against the Telangana government, citing issues such as drought and water scarcity that continue to affect farmers. She compared the current administration to the previous BRS government, claiming that villages had better access to water even during summers under BRS rule.
Despite mounting criticism, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presented the Telangana Budget for 2025-26, focusing on technology, transport, infrastructure, and environmental conservation. The total proposed expenditure stands at ₹3,04,965 crore, with allocations including:
- ₹40,232 crore for Scheduled Caste (SC) welfare
- ₹17,169 crore for Scheduled Tribe (ST) welfare
- ₹11,405 crore for Backward Classes welfare
- ₹3,591 crore for Minority welfare
- ₹2,862 crore for Women and Child welfare
While the Congress government maintains that the budget aims to drive progress and social welfare, the BJP and BRS continue to criticize its lack of implementation and unfulfilled promises.
