Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has strongly rebutted RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s claims that he holds two voter ID cards, accusing Yadav of spreading lies and confusion for political mileage.
Calling Yadav “issue-less,” Sinha alleged the RJD leader was undermining the dignity of his constitutional position by making baseless charges. He confirmed receiving a notice from the Election Commission regarding dual Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers, one of which has since been deactivated, and said he had provided evidence in his reply.
“I responded, and my EPIC number was deactivated. I had proof too. But why can’t Tejashwi respond when allegations are made against him? If you make allegations, you should have the strength to answer as well,” Sinha challenged.
Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav accused the Election Commission of colluding with the BJP to manipulate Bihar’s voter list by issuing dual EPIC numbers to ruling party leaders and workers. He alleged that Muzaffarpur’s BJP mayor Nirmala Devi, along with her relatives, also holds multiple voter IDs in the same constituency.
Yadav further claimed that names of voters from other states, including Gujarat BJP leader Bhikhubhai Dalsaniya, were being added to Bihar’s rolls ahead of the polls. He alleged that Dalsaniya voted in Gujarat in 2024 but is now registered in Patna, suggesting such voter transfers would continue after the elections.
The RJD leader also accused the BJP of previously using investigative agencies like the CBI, ED, and Income Tax department against the Opposition, but claimed that with those methods losing effectiveness, the Election Commission is now being “used” to facilitate “vote theft.”
Bihar Assembly elections are expected later this year, with political tensions between the NDA and the INDIA bloc intensifying over alleged voter list manipulation.
