Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Ayodhya’s Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, passed away on Wednesday at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow.
The revered priest had been admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of SGPGI on February 3 after suffering a stroke. He was in critical condition and was under the close supervision of senior neurologists.
On February 4, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited Acharya Satyendra Das at the hospital to offer support and check on his condition.
Just a month earlier, on January 11, Acharya Satyendra Das had celebrated the first anniversary of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ayodhya Temple, describing the occasion as “very beautiful.”
His passing marks the end of an era for the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, where he served with great devotion.
