Atishi Slams BJP-Led Delhi Administration After Over 20 Schools Receive Bomb Threats

This latest spate of threats follows a similar pattern observed earlier in the week when around ten schools and one college, including St. Stephen’s College, received alarming emails claiming that explosives had been planted on the premises.

Former Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi strongly criticised the BJP-led central administration on Friday, following a wave of bomb threats emailed to over 20 schools across the national capital. She accused the government of failing to ensure the safety and security of school children.

“More than 20 schools have received bomb threats today! Think of the trauma that children, parents, and teachers would be going through. BJP controls all four engines of governance in Delhi, and is yet not able to provide any safety or security to our children! Shocking,” Atishi posted on X.

The Delhi Police confirmed that at least 20 schools, including Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, received bomb threat emails. Emergency services including the fire department, bomb disposal squads, and Delhi Police teams were rushed to the sites. Investigations are ongoing, and so far, no explosives have been found.

This latest spate of threats follows a similar pattern observed earlier in the week when around ten schools and one college, including St. Stephen’s College, received alarming emails claiming that explosives had been planted on the premises.

According to officials, the emails contained disturbing and violent language, threatening mass casualties and expressing suicidal intent. The message also criticised mental health treatment and expressed resentment toward society.

Schools that received threats this week include:

  • St. Thomas School, Dwarka
  • Vasant Valley School, Vasant Kunj
  • The Mother’s International School, Hauz Khas
  • Richmond Global School, Paschim Vihar
  • Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Lodhi Estate

In one case, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya remained shut for the day as a precaution. Police evacuated all impacted locations and conducted comprehensive security sweeps. Despite the alarming content of the emails, no suspicious objects have been recovered.

Delhi Police have not confirmed the source of the threats, and no other colleges have reported similar emails since. Investigations are ongoing into the origin and authenticity of the messages.

Meanwhile, concerns are growing over public safety and the psychological impact on students, parents, and school staff, with opposition parties demanding accountability and effective action.
