Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi expressed unwavering confidence in her party’s victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, predicting that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be re-elected for a fourth consecutive term with a significant majority.
Speaking to the media outside her residence on Saturday, Atishi stated, “This election is not just a contest; it’s a battle between good and evil, between work and hooliganism. I have high hopes that the people of Kalkaji and Delhi will stand by the party that has delivered on its promises, by the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal.”
She further emphasized, “Arvind Kejriwal will become the Chief Minister of Delhi for the fourth time with a huge majority.”
Reflecting on the AAP’s journey, Atishi recalled how the party began with minimal resources but gained trust through its strong governance. “When AAP started, we had no financial backing or political power. Nobody believed we could succeed, but we built public trust through good governance,” she remarked.
Atishi underscored that the party’s politics revolves around development and governance, not religion or vote bank manipulation. “We do not engage in religious or vote bank politics. Our strength comes from the love of the people of Delhi and the blessings of God. We hope the people of Delhi will once again shower us with their support,” she added.
As the counting of votes for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections began, Atishi, who is contesting from Kalkaji, arrived at the Meerabai DSEU counting center in Maharani Bagh. The AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, is vying for a fourth consecutive term, relying on its track record in sectors like education, healthcare, and public welfare.
In this high-stakes election, the AAP faces a strong challenge from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. While exit polls released earlier this week suggested a slight edge for the BJP, AAP leaders remain confident, noting that exit polls have often underestimated their party’s performance.
Key constituencies in the election include New Delhi, where Arvind Kejriwal is up against Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit and BJP’s Parvesh Verma. Atishi is contesting in Kalkaji against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’s Alka Lamba. Throughout the campaign, sharp exchanges were witnessed between leaders of the three parties.
While Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has struggled in recent elections, AAP has dominated the last two assembly polls. The BJP, aiming to break this trend, is seeking to return to power in Delhi after a 20-year gap.
