Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday declared the BrahMos missile a symbol of India’s military might, asserting that anyone unaware of its power should “ask the people of Pakistan.” His remarks came during the inauguration of the BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow.

The event was virtually inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who could not attend in person due to ongoing national security concerns. CM Yogi, addressing the gathering on-site, said that India’s recent military operation—Operation Sindoor—demonstrated the strength of BrahMos missiles and sent a strong message to the world about India’s resolve against terrorism.

“You must have seen a glimpse of BrahMos during Operation Sindoor. If not, just ask the people of Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clearly stated that any future act of terrorism will be treated as an act of war. Terrorism understands only one language, and that is the language of strength. India has spoken in that language,” Yogi Adityanath said.

The Chief Minister praised India’s decisive stance under PM Modi’s leadership and called for collective national unity to crush terrorism. He stressed that the global message sent through Operation Sindoor is a turning point in India’s counterterrorism doctrine.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in his virtual address, expressed regret at not being physically present at the event due to the situation along the western border. However, he reiterated the strategic importance of the newly inaugurated facility and India’s unwavering focus on strengthening indigenous defence capabilities.

“I wanted to attend in person, but the current national security situation required me to remain in Delhi,” Singh said.

The facility, developed by BrahMos Aerospace and DRDO, is a part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. Spread over 200 acres, the manufacturing centre will produce the next-generation BRAHMOS-NG missiles. Additionally, a Defence Technologies & Test Centre (DTTC), spread across 22 acres, will support the growth of aerospace and defence manufacturing in the region.

The inauguration comes at a time of heightened tension between India and Pakistan following the retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor and subsequent cross-border escalations.
