On the occasion of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Foundation Day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his greetings to party workers across the country and highlighted the BJP’s transformative journey over the past four decades. He emphasized how the lotus symbol—the party’s emblem—has become a powerful representation of trust, hope, and national progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a post on social media platform X, Shah said, “Today, under the leadership of Modi ji, the lotus has become a new emblem of trust and hope in the hearts of the countrymen. The service, security, and cultural renaissance undertaken by the BJP in the last decade will be seen as milestones in India’s journey.”

Reaffirming the ideological strength and grassroots dedication of the party, Shah commended the crores of BJP workers who remain committed to nation-building.

He also reflected on the BJP’s major historical contributions—from the revocation of Article 370 to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya—stating that the party has consistently prioritized the welfare of the poor, women, and marginalized communities.

“Whether it is taking the Shri Ram Temple movement to every individual, removing Article 370, or ensuring the welfare of the poor and deprived—BJP has always placed national interest above all,” Shah noted.

He praised the BJP’s enduring commitment to legacy, governance, and inclusive development, saying that in its four-decade-long journey, the party has set an example of how a political organization can provide housing, food, health coverage, and farmer welfare simultaneously.

The BJP, officially founded on April 6, 1980, traces its roots to the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, established in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mookerjee. After the Emergency, Jana Sangh members merged with the Janata Party, but ideological differences regarding dual membership with the RSS led to the formation of the BJP as an independent party.

Since then, the BJP has grown to become India’s largest political party, producing two Prime Ministers—Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi—and achieving landmark victories, including securing 303 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the highest in its history.

As the BJP marks its 44th Foundation Day, leaders like Amit Shah continue to emphasize the party’s vision of a strong, inclusive, and developed India, rooted in service and driven by unwavering commitment to national progress.
