Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday commended the security forces for their latest success in counter-insurgency operations, where 22 Naxalites were neutralized in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur and Kanker districts. Calling it a “big success” under the ‘Naxal Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating Naxalism.

In a post on X, Shah emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance approach towards Naxalites unwilling to surrender, asserting that India will be Naxal-free before March 31 next year.

“The Modi government is moving forward with a ruthless approach against Naxalites, ensuring strict action against those who refuse to surrender despite all rehabilitation opportunities. The country will be free from Naxalism before March 31, 2026,” Shah stated.

The latest operations saw 18 Naxalites eliminated at the Bijapur-Dantewada border, where one District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel lost his life. Simultaneously, four more Naxalites were killed at the Kanker-Narayanpur border, with automatic weapons recovered. Intermittent firing continues, and search operations are still underway.

Authorities have ramped up anti-Naxal efforts, following the surrender of 17 Naxalites last week in Bijapur. In February, security forces arrested 18 Naxalites and seized explosives in a series of operations across Bijapur.

With relentless action and targeted operations, the government is reinforcing its commitment to eliminating insurgency and ensuring long-term peace in affected regions.
