Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 79th Independence Day address, calling it a comprehensive roadmap that reflects 11 years of progress, the nation’s present strength, and a clear strategy for a prosperous future.
In a post on X, Shah highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to national security through key initiatives, including:
- Operation Sindoor – To eliminate terrorism.
- Mission Sudarshan Chakra – To protect vital national infrastructure.
- High-Powered Demography Mission – To ensure an infiltrator-free India.
He further applauded the government’s focus on self-reliance in nuclear energy, critical minerals, space, and defence technologies, including indigenous jet engine production. Shah also lauded the launch of the Prime Minister Developed India Employment Scheme worth ₹1 lakh crore, aimed at boosting youth employment, and welcomed the announcement of GST relief ahead of Diwali to ease living costs and support small businesses.
Shah emphasised that farmers remain central to the Modi government’s vision, noting the continued focus on agricultural welfare alongside cutting-edge industrial and energy advancements.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi hoisted the tricolour at the Red Fort, received a ceremonial guard of honour, and outlined a series of transformative initiatives — from India’s first semiconductor production to a tenfold nuclear capacity expansion — signalling India’s readiness to enter a new era of growth and self-reliance.
