Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta came together on World Liver Day to attend an awareness event hosted by the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) in Delhi, where they emphasized the urgent need for healthier lifestyles and improved healthcare infrastructure.

Speaking at the event, Amit Shah shared his personal health journey, revealing how since May 2020 he has adopted a disciplined routine involving proper sleep, diet, hydration, and regular exercise. “Today, I stand free from any kind of allopathic medicine and insulin,” he said, urging the youth to dedicate two hours a day to physical activity and six hours to sleep for long-term wellbeing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also marked the occasion with a message on X, encouraging citizens to take small but impactful steps toward healthier living. “Small steps like reducing oil intake can make a big difference,” PM Modi wrote, highlighting the fight against obesity under the hashtag #StopObesity.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the need for robust healthcare systems across the country, particularly in the national capital. “Delhi must be ready to offer health services to all, not just its residents. People come here from all over India and the world,” she said, praising the Ayushman Bharat scheme as a healthcare assurance for all.

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena echoed Gupta’s sentiments and acknowledged the challenges posed by poor food habits and sedentary lifestyles, which have led to a rise in fatty liver disease. He also applauded ILBS for its global recognition and role in addressing liver-related ailments, noting its status as a WHO Collaborative Center.

The event served as a powerful platform for public health advocacy, with leaders uniting to promote lifestyle changes, health education, and policy-level healthcare reforms in India.
