On International Women’s Day, Ajaita Shah, Founder and CEO of Frontier Markets, took over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social media handle to share her inspiring journey and vision. Through a post on X, she emphasized that a financially empowered woman is a confident decision-maker, an independent thinker, and the architect of her own future, contributing significantly to the making of modern India.
Ajaita’s company, Frontier Markets, founded in 2011, focuses on integrating technology to ensure the skilling and financial inclusion of women, particularly in rural areas. She expressed her passion for addressing the challenges faced by women in rural India, including financial obstacles and lack of infrastructure, which she has worked to overcome over the past two decades.
“Since 2011, I’ve worked to support rural women and create a network of empowered women who are not only becoming self-reliant but are also providing livelihoods to others,” she shared, celebrating the progress made by women in rural sectors.
Ajaita highlighted the role of technology in transforming women’s lives, particularly through initiatives like the ‘Meri Saheli App,’ which harnesses tech and AI to empower rural women and support them in becoming entrepreneurs.
She urged all women to join the “India Story,” noting that with increasing access to resources like banking, social security, healthcare, and sanitation, women are more equipped to pursue their dreams and contribute to societal value.
In his message, PM Modi thanked the women achievers for their remarkable contributions, emphasizing their role in shaping a “Viksit Bharat” (developed India). He also celebrated the success of women across India, underscoring the theme of “Nari Shakti” — the strength and potential of Indian women.
This initiative is part of PM Modi’s commitment to showcasing the achievements of women by handing over his social media platforms to inspiring women for the day on International Women’s Day.
