Businessman Robert Vadra on Thursday denounced the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) summons in connection with the Gurugram land case, calling it a clear example of political vendetta and misuse of investigative agencies to target opposition voices.
Speaking to ANI, Vadra questioned the credibility of the ED, pointing to what he described as a pattern of selective action against non-BJP leaders.
“This is political vendetta. Agencies are being misused. Why are only opposition leaders being summoned? Has even one BJP minister faced such scrutiny? Are we to believe there are no allegations against anyone in the BJP?” he asked.
Vadra emphasized that pressure tactics would not deter him, asserting, “I’m someone who becomes stronger when harassed. I have the support of the people, and I’ll continue to raise my voice against injustice.”
He further stated that the current ED questioning was repetitive and based on issues already addressed in 2019. “These are the same old questions. I was given a clean chit twice by former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar. So, why this action again?” he said.
Vadra linked the fresh ED action to his recent social media posts highlighting atrocities against minorities and speculation around his potential political entry.
“Ever since I raised my voice against the mistreatment of minorities, and people started urging me to enter politics, these difficulties began. The ED summons has no real basis,” he said.
When asked about his future in politics, Vadra responded affirmatively: “Definitely… If people want it and I have the blessings of my family, I will join politics and work hard for the Congress.”
Vadra arrived at the ED office on Wednesday for his second round of questioning, accompanied by his wife and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. Before heading in, the couple shared a moment of support with a hug, symbolizing unity in the face of what Vadra insists is politically motivated harassment.
