Anil Jha, the AAP’s victorious candidate from the Kirari Assembly constituency, has expressed his intention to play a constructive role in opposition while supporting initiatives that benefit the public. Specifically, Jha voiced his support for the BJP’s promise to clean the Yamuna River, but also emphasized the importance of holding the ruling party accountable for its commitments.

In a sarcastic remark regarding the BJP’s recent pledge to clean the Yamuna River, Jha said, “We will play the role of a positive opposition. Some BJP leaders have claimed they will clean the Yamuna River in 5-7 months and then take a dip in it. We will support them in this so they can take that dip.”

Jha urged the BJP to fulfill their promise, adding, “The BJP is in power at the Centre, in Haryana, and in Uttar Pradesh. Now, they need to ensure the Yamuna River is cleaned in 5-7 months.”

Earlier, on Sunday, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal had reaffirmed the BJP’s commitment to cleaning the Yamuna River, stating that it would be the party’s top priority if they formed a government in Delhi. “Prime Minister Modi set the agenda for the BJP government in Delhi, and we will ensure every announcement is implemented,” Khandelwal said. “Cleaning Maa Yamuna will be the main responsibility of the BJP government.”

Following the BJP’s “historic” victory, Prime Minister Modi invoked chants for the Yamuna River while criticizing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the river’s pollution. He accused AAP of shifting blame onto the people of Haryana for the deteriorating condition of the Yamuna, calling it an insult to the people of Delhi. “Delhi has flourished in the lap of Mother Yamuna, and the people of Delhi have suffered seeing its condition. AAP has insulted this faith by blaming Haryana for their failures,” Modi remarked.

Prime Minister Modi also pledged to make the Yamuna River the “identity of Delhi,” stressing that, no matter how challenging or time-consuming the task, the BJP government would serve the river with dedication. “I’ve committed during the election campaign that we will make the Yamuna the identity of Delhi. This work will be difficult and long, but with strong resolve, we will serve Mother Yamuna with full devotion,” Modi promised.
