Following the swearing-in ceremony of the new BJP government in Delhi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu hailed the event as the start of a new era in the national capital. He emphasized that significant development will soon unfold in Delhi under the BJP leadership.
Speaking to ANI, CM Naidu stated, “We are entering a new phase in Delhi. From now on, it will be a completely different Delhi. This government’s tenure will not only be smooth but also marked by extraordinary performance. Every citizen of India will take pride in the progress we will see here. We are very happy, as a new era has begun in Delhi. Excellent development is on the way.”
He further added, “For the past decade, things haven’t worked well in Delhi, but now, a new era is beginning.”
Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal also extended her congratulations to Delhi’s newly sworn-in Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, noting that the people of Delhi have high hopes for her leadership. “I congratulate Rekha Gupta on becoming the new CM of Delhi. The people of Delhi have placed great expectations on her, and I hope she lives up to them,” Maliwal said.
Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister in a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan, where Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena administered the oath of office. Along with Gupta, six other ministers, including Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh, also took the oath.
Top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister JP Nadda, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, were present to witness the occasion. Other prominent leaders from the party, as well as Chief Ministers from neighboring states, also attended the ceremony, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, Rajasthan Deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa, Goa CM Pramod Sawant, and Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu.
Earlier, Rekha Gupta referred to her appointment as Delhi CM as a “miracle” and a “new chapter” for women in politics. She vowed to hold corrupt individuals accountable, emphasizing that anyone who misused public funds will have to answer for every rupee.
She said, “It is a miracle, a new motivation, and a new chapter. If I can become the CM, it means there are no barriers for women… Anyone who has been corrupt will have to give an account of every rupee.”
Gupta also expressed gratitude to the BJP leadership for placing their trust in her to govern the national capital. “It’s a huge responsibility. I thank PM Modi and the BJP high command for believing in me. I will fulfill my duties with utmost honesty. My first priority is to fulfill the promises made by our party, and secondly, to ensure that all 48 MLAs work together as a team. I never imagined I would become the CM of Delhi,” she said.
Gupta was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party on Wednesday after the BJP secured a historic victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 seats and ousting the Aam Aadmi Party.
