In a bid to strengthen the security grid and maintain peace in the region, the Indian Army’s 4 Rashtriya Rifles has ramped up patrolling operations in the dense forests and rugged terrain of Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.
The enhanced security presence comes as major tourist destinations in the Union Territory reopen, prompting the Army to intensify surveillance to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors. The patrols are supported by aerial surveillance using drones, enabling forces to monitor remote and difficult-to-access areas more effectively.
“Our focus is to leave no gaps in the security grid,” said a senior officer of the 4 Rashtriya Rifles. “We conduct regular foot patrols in dense forests to ensure area domination and preserve the serenity and safety Bhaderwah is known for.”
Bhaderwah has a history of militancy-related incidents, and the Army’s proactive approach is aimed at deterring any resurgence of terrorist activity. Counter-terror operations in the wider Doda region have reportedly yielded positive outcomes, strengthening local confidence in security measures.
In addition to security operations, the 4 Rashtriya Rifles is also contributing to community development. On Tuesday, the unit launched a pre-recruitment training programme to help local youth prepare for upcoming Territorial Army (TA) recruitment rallies.
Held at the Army camp in Sarna, Bhaderwah, the initiative focuses on building physical fitness, discipline, and overall readiness, and is part of a broader effort to empower youth from remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir to pursue careers in the armed forces.
The dual effort—enhancing regional security and creating employment opportunities—reflects the Army’s continued commitment to stability and development in the region.
