Heavy rains since Saturday resulted in waterlogging and overflowing of rivers at several places in Kannur, Kasaragod districts. Two persons were killed, including an 8-year-old child, at Kasaragod and Palakkad districts on Monday.
Two persons were feared to have been washed away in the Bavali river at Kottiyoor in Kannur district during the Kottiyoor temple festival.
The Kelakam police have registered two separate cases following the complaints from their relatives and search operations were going on.
A 80-year old woman was killed after the wall of their house collapsed around 10.30 am at Manaladi near Mannarkkad in Palakkad district on Monday. The deceased was identified as Pathumma (80) of Manaladi Unnathi.
Sulthan (8), son of Sadath in Kasaragod district was killed, after the child was swept away in a stream near his house around afternoon while playing. The body was taken out by local residents, about a kilometer away from the accident spot.
Two persons were feared to have been washed away in the Bavali river, adjoining the Kottiyoor temple while bathing. Abhijith of Kanhangad in Kasaragod district was swept away while bathing along with his friends as part of the custom to attend the Kootiyooor Mahotsavam festival on Sunday morning.
Another person Nishad of Atholi in Kozhikode district was also suspected to have been washed away.
