10 Mahakumbh Devotees Killed in Collision Between Car and Bus on Prayagraj-Mirzapur Highway

This tragic incident follows another fatal crash that occurred earlier on February 11, where two buses collided on the Yamuna Expressway near the Raya cut in Mathura.

A tragic accident on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway claimed the lives of 10 Mahakumbh devotees when a car, carrying passengers from Chhattisgarh, collided with a bus on Friday night, police officials confirmed.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vivek Chandra Yadav, the incident occurred late on Friday when the car, en route to the Mahakumbh Mela, crashed into a bus. As a result, 10 people lost their lives. The bodies of the deceased were transported to Swaroop Rani Medical Hospital for post-mortem, Yadav added.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his condolences to the victims’ families. The Chief Minister also instructed officials to swiftly reach the scene and expedite relief efforts. Additionally, district administration officials have been directed to ensure medical treatment for the injured, and the CM wished a speedy recovery to those hurt in the accident.

The collision, which occurred at the 110 milestone, resulted in two deaths and injuries to more than 24 passengers, who were returning from the Mahakumbh. One bus was from Aligarh, and the other was from Badaun. Emergency teams were quickly dispatched, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
