Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering at Lilavati Hospital after sustaining serious injuries during an alleged attack by an intruder at his Mumbai residence early Thursday morning. The actor underwent surgery and is now “completely stable,” according to doctors.
Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital provided an update on Saif’s condition, confirming that the actor suffered a thoracic spinal cord injury during the attack.
“Saif Ali Khan was admitted to the hospital at 2 am with a history of assault by an unknown person. He sustained a significant thoracic spinal cord injury due to a knife lodged in his spine. Surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid,” Dr. Dange said.
In addition to the spinal injury, Saif suffered deep wounds on his left hand and neck. “The plastic surgery team repaired two deep wounds on his left hand and another on his neck. He is stable, recovering well, and out of danger,” the doctor added.
Saif’s team also issued a statement reassuring fans about his condition. “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery, and doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe, and the police are investigating the incident.”
The statement also expressed gratitude to the medical team: “We would like to thank Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr. Leena Jain, and the team at Lilavati Hospital. A heartfelt thank you to all fans and well-wishers for their prayers during this difficult time.”The Mumbai Police have made significant progress in the investigation. According to Dixit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 9, one suspect has been identified.
“The accused used the fire escape to enter the building. Preliminary investigation indicates it was an attempted burglary. One of the accused has been identified, and efforts are underway to apprehend him. Ten detection teams are actively pursuing leads,” DCP Gedam said.
The incident occurred at Saif’s residence in the ‘Satguru Sharan’ building in Bandra. The intruder initially confronted the actor’s maid, and when Saif intervened to de-escalate the situation, the confrontation turned violent. The actor was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment.The shocking incident has left Bollywood in disbelief, with many expressing concern for Saif’s well-being. Filmmaker Siddharth Anand and his wife visited the hospital to check on the actor and offer their support.
Saif Ali Khan, last seen in Devara Part 1 alongside Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor, is also set to appear in the highly anticipated heist thriller Jewel Thief – The Red Sun Chapter. Fans and colleagues alike are wishing him a speedy recovery.
