The Mumbai Police have taken possession of a fragment of the blade extracted from Saif Ali Khan’s back following the attack at his Bandra residence. Efforts to recover the remaining portion of the blade are ongoing, an official confirmed.

Meanwhile, Lilavati Hospital stated that Saif’s family and doctors would decide later today whether to shift him from the ICU to a normal ward as he continues to recover from surgery.

The Bollywood actor was attacked in his 11th-floor Bandra flat at around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday. The intruder initially confronted the actor’s maid before Saif intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. This led to a violent altercation, during which Saif sustained multiple stab wounds.

He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where a team of doctors performed surgery to remove a 2.5-inch-long knife lodged in his spine. The injury caused significant damage to his thoracic spinal cord and leaking spinal fluid, which doctors successfully repaired. While Saif is “out of danger,” his condition continues to be closely monitored in the ICU.

Mumbai Police registered an FIR and recorded the statement of Saif’s maid, who was the first to encounter the intruder. In her testimony, she described the attacker as wielding a long, thin hexa blade and demanding one crore rupees from the family.

She stated, “He ran towards me with something like wood in his left hand and a hexa blade in his right hand. During the scuffle, he attacked me with the blade, injuring my wrists and fingers. When I asked him what he wanted, he said, ‘One crore.’”

The maid also mentioned seeing the intruder move toward Saif’s son before the violent encounter. “We pulled the door shut and ran out, calling for help. Hearing the commotion, other staff members, including Ramesh, Hari, Ramu, and Paswan, came to assist.”

Mumbai Police have formed 20 teams to track down the attacker. According to DCP Zone 9, Dixit Gedam, the assailant entered the residence using a fire escape staircase. “This appears to be a robbery attempt. We are working diligently to arrest the accused. An offence has been registered at Bandra Police Station,” Gedam said.

Ten detection teams are actively pursuing leads in the case, with officers working round the clock to apprehend the intruder.

The attack has left Saif’s family and fans shaken. The actor’s wife, Kareena Kapoor, and other close family members, including his children Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, have been by his side at the hospital.

The incident has sparked concern across the entertainment industry, with the police intensifying efforts to bring the attacker to justice while Saif continues his recovery.
