In a heartwarming reunion, actors R Madhavan and Dia Mirza took to Instagram Live on Saturday, igniting nostalgia for fans of the beloved film “Rehnna Hai Terre Dil Mein” (RHTDM). The special session celebrated the re-release of the 2001 romantic drama, which marked both actors’ Bollywood debuts.

Reflecting on their time during the film’s production, Dia shared insights into the challenges they faced. “We traveled for 14 to 18 hours, hopping from one location to another. Sleep often happened on flights. Our filming journey took us across stunning locations in South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Mumbai,” she recalled. The excitement of their debut was palpable, even as they navigated the rigorous shooting schedule. Dia also mentioned that the film’s release date was set before they had completed filming, adding a layer of anticipation to their work.

R Madhavan chimed in, reminiscing about how he confidently predicted the film would resonate with audiences, despite its initial struggles at the box office. Their virtual chat also opened the floor to fans, who eagerly shared their thoughts and questions. One fan sparked a lively discussion by inquiring about a potential sequel to RHTDM. Dia humorously responded, “Kaun Banayga?” (Who would make it?), while Madhavan added, “The fear is we should make it better than the original; otherwise, we’ll face a lot of backlash.”

Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, RHTDM was a remake of his own Tamil film “Minnale,” released the same year. Over the years, whispers of a sequel have circulated, but Madhavan clarified that he had no insider knowledge about any follow-up. In a lighthearted tweet from 2020, he expressed his hope for a sequel, jokingly wishing that the script would be suitable for their age, given how much time has passed since the original.

“Just praying that someone somewhere has an age-appropriate script for Dia and me—otherwise, playing Madhav Shastri again would be like trying to fit an elephant into a pair of shorts,” he quipped.

The iconic film also featured Saif Ali Khan in a significant role, contributing to its lasting impact on Indian cinema. As fans continue to celebrate RHTDM’s legacy, Madhavan and Dia’s nostalgic chat served as a delightful reminder of the film’s timeless charm and the special bond forged during its creation.
