The Mumbai Police clarified on Friday that no one has been detained in connection with the assault on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan. While earlier reports suggested that one person had been brought in for questioning, the police have now confirmed that the individual is not linked to the case.
In a separate development, Maharashtra Junior Minister for Home (Urban) Yogesh Kadam also addressed the incident, stating that there was no gang involvement. “This was a theft attempt, and no gang was involved,” Kadam clarified. He further explained, “The attack was not part of any organized criminal activity. The accused entered Saif Ali Khan’s house with the intent to steal, and the altercation occurred when Saif tried to intervene.” The minister also mentioned that Saif had not requested any additional security prior to the attack.
In a positive update on Saif Ali Khan’s health, Dr. Nitin Dange from Lilavati Hospital confirmed that the actor is “extremely well” and has been safely moved out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). However, Saif’s movements are still restricted as he continues to recover from his injuries.
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, one of the doctors who treated Saif, recalled meeting the actor shortly after the incident. “He had blood all over, but he walked in like a lion, holding his young child. He’s a real hero,” Uttamani said. “His vital parameters have improved, and we’re shifting him to a special room. We’ll keep visitors in check as he needs rest.”
Dr. Dange also mentioned that while Saif is doing well, he has been advised to rest due to the wounds on his back, which could lead to infection. He confirmed that there are no signs of paralysis or any other concerning symptoms.
Earlier, Mumbai Police stated that they have recovered a fragment of the blade used in the attack on Saif, with efforts still underway to locate the remaining part.
The police also revealed that the suspect in the attack was last seen near Bandra railway station. Authorities believe the attacker boarded a local train in the morning and headed towards the Vasai-Virar region. Multiple police teams are currently conducting searches in Vasai, Nalasopara, and Virar areas to apprehend the suspect.
The investigation into the incident continues as Saif Ali Khan’s recovery progresses.
