Malayalam actress Vincy Sony Aloshious has come forward with serious allegations of misbehaviour by a co-actor, claiming the male lead was under the influence of drugs while on set during a past film shoot.
Aloshious, known for her roles in Rekha, Vikruthi, and Jana Gana Mana, recently faced online backlash after stating at an anti-drug campaign that she would no longer work with actors who abuse drugs. In response to the criticism, she posted a video on Instagram to clarify her stance, revealing it was based on a troubling personal experience.
“Some days back at an anti-drug campaign programme, I said I wouldn’t work with people who use drugs. After reading many comments online, I felt the need to explain why I made that statement,” she said.
Without naming the actor involved, Aloshious recounted multiple instances of inappropriate behaviour. She alleged that her co-star, who was the main lead in the film, misbehaved with her and a female colleague. One disturbing incident involved the actor publicly offering to help fix her costume, a comment she described as humiliating and uncomfortable.
“When I had a problem with my dress and went to fix it, he said, ‘I’ll come and fix it for you’—in front of everyone. It was extremely difficult to continue shooting after that,” she said.
She further alleged that the actor openly used drugs on set, claiming she saw him “spitting some kind of white powder onto the table” during a rehearsal.
Aloshious said she had raised the issue with the production team, including the director, but the project continued because the accused actor was essential to the film. “Everyone knew. The director even spoke to him. But since he was the lead, they had no choice but to finish the movie with him,” she said.
Despite the challenges, Vincy stated that she completed the project, but the experience influenced her firm stance against working with drug-using actors in the future.
