Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar on Saturday commended the Mumbai Police for their meticulous efforts in investigating the recent attack on actor Saif Ali Khan. Speaking to the media, Shelar expressed confidence that the truth behind the incident would emerge soon and assured citizens of Mumbai’s continued safety.

“Even today, Mumbai remains one of the safest megacities in the world. The history of the Mumbai Police has been commendable. Bandra was safe in the past, it is safe today, and it should remain safe in the future. For this, the Mumbai Police must continue their excellent work,” Shelar stated.

He added, “The police are working diligently on this case. Teams have been formed to trace the roots of the issue, and I am confident the truth will come to light very soon. Catching the culprit is the priority, and I have communicated this to senior police officials.”

The BJP leader also conveyed his wishes for Saif Ali Khan’s speedy recovery. “I visited him two days ago. The attack on him and the subsequent surgery, which lasted 5-6 hours, were serious. We hope he recovers quickly and returns to full health,” Shelar said.

The attack occurred early Thursday morning when an intruder allegedly confronted the actor’s maid at his residence. Saif, attempting to intervene, was stabbed during the altercation, sustaining injuries to his thoracic spine.

The actor was rushed to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, where a complex surgery was performed to remove a 2.5-inch blade from his back. According to the hospital administration, the surgery was successful, and Saif has been moved from the ICU to a regular room. While his condition is stable and he is “out of danger,” medical staff continue to monitor him closely.

Mumbai Police have intensified their investigation, forming 20 teams to track down the assailant. They are analyzing CCTV footage and have questioned over 30 individuals, including the actor’s staff and those seen near the residence at the time of the attack.

The case has drawn significant public attention, with Shelar emphasizing the importance of a swift resolution. “The police are leaving no stone unturned to ensure justice is served,” he said.

The incident has also sparked discussions about security in Mumbai’s upscale neighborhoods, though officials and citizens alike have expressed confidence in the city’s safety record and the Mumbai Police’s efficiency.
