Katy Perry recently shared some insights into her family life and how Orlando Bloom’s son, Flynn, plays a key role in her music-making process. Speaking to ‘People’, the pop star and TV personality opened up about how the 13-year-old has an exceptional ear for music and has been a crucial part of her creative decisions.
While Katy and Orlando share a daughter, Daisy Dove, Flynn is Orlando’s son from his previous relationship with supermodel Miranda Kerr. Despite the blended nature of their family, it seems Flynn has become an important sounding board for Perry’s new tunes.
“They’ve had enough of me,” Perry joked about Bloom’s family during her interview. “They’re fine, but like… my family, they’re telling me to move or take out the trash,” she added, laughing about how her loved ones keep things real at home. Despite the everyday family dynamics, Perry revealed that Flynn stands out with his ability to offer genuinely helpful feedback when it comes to her music.
“I’ll play things to Orlando’s son, who’s 13, and he has a really good ear. He’s probably the best person out of my whole family,” Perry said. Reflecting on Flynn’s impeccable taste, she recalled how he responded to some of her songs before they were released.
One track in particular that Flynn loved was Perry’s 2019 hit, ‘Never Really Over’. “I played that to him before it came out, and I was like, ‘What do you think?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, this is good.’ He’s got good taste,” she praised. Another song Flynn is fond of is ‘All the Love’, a track close to Perry’s heart, which appears on ‘143’. “That’s one of my favorite songs that I wrote,” she shared.
Katy Perry also touched on how her own daughter, Daisy Dove, is starting to become a fan of her music. “She actually just started singing ‘Roar,'” Perry said. However, like any parent, Perry is now navigating the humor and challenges of having her child sing more playful, less age-appropriate songs, joking that Daisy has also picked up ‘Peacock’, leaving Perry reminiscing about what other parents experienced with her music back in 2008.
